Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D Okay Shivakumar on Friday alleged that the town MLAs throughout political events are “blackmailing” the federal government over Bengaluru’s rubbish disaster.
Referring to them as “blackmailers” within the Legislative Council, he claimed that these MLAs are demanding Rs 800 crore in growth funds.
He additional alleged there’s a “big mafia” controlling the town’s stable waste administration.
The Deputy CM was replying to MLC M Nagaraju’s query on the rubbish situation within the metropolis.
Nagaraju identified that many rubbish transporting automobiles are stranded on the roads on account of lack of waste disposal amenities. He additionally expressed considerations about waste not being cleared from the town.

I cannot take their names here.” He instructed the Council that for the previous three days automobiles have been stranded in Mahadevapura within the metropolis.
Noting that he needed to take the rubbish no less than 50 km away from the town, the Deputy CM appealed to the MLAs to assist the BBMP establish 100 acres land in Kolar, Nelamangala, Kanakapura Highway, or subsequent to a forest land.
“I (authorities) will buy it (land) and get a everlasting answer. I requested the Industries Minister for 100 acres land, to which he puzzled whether or not rubbish be dumped inside industries?” Shivakumar said.
The Deputy CM said the experiment to generate power has failed.
“I had been to Hyderabad and Chennai. All electric (units) have failed. The only option is gas. There is a chance to generate gas. I had seen it at three to four places,” he opined.
Two areas have been recognized for waste disposal – one is with the Nandi Infrastructure Hall Enterprise (NICE) Highway authorities and one other one in Doddaballapura.
